"Preserve Scroll Position" is always activated regardless of me turning it on or off.

I have:

Windows Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299

XD v. 11.0.22

Hi,

This is the exact article I am talking about. There must be some unspoken assumption in there that I am just not getting. After 10 reads between last night and now, I literally have no idea what the 3 paragraphs titled "Preserve Scroll Position" and the animated gif that goes with it are trying to communicate.

Here's an example: Adobe XD CC

When you click the hotspot at the bottom the scroll position remains the same.

(It does appear that there's a bug at the moment where the scroll position is wrong during the transition. I will make sure that gets fixed)

Can someone please explain what it is this feature is supposed to do? I can't find any explanation on the Adobe site that does this without leaving out a few critical details. Better yet, tell me if this is even close:

If I am in an exported prototype, and I scroll way down Page A to Link A and select Link A, I end up at the top of page B. If I go back to Page A using a back button on Page B will I end up exactly where I was on page A when I selected Link A?

If this isn't how the feature works then what is this feature and what is it good for?

Preserve Scroll Position works with artboards that have vertical scrolling set. In this prototype your artboard is large enough that it is making the webpage scroll.

Take a look at Use artboards and grids in Adobe XD. to see how to make artboards scrollable.

Hello, thank you for your answer.

That is unfortunate. I am regularly doing remote user testing where I do not know the device size (height) of the display the user has. Therefore I am forced to disable vertical scrolling as I need the webpage to scroll (to fit any device screen resolution), as you say.

However, I also need the ability to preserve scroll position. I'm puzzled as to why that is disabled when vertical scrolling is disabled. Do you have any more information regarding this?

Features like preserve scroll position and fixed elements only work with the viewport set on the artboards in XD at the moment, and not any scrolling added by the prototype viewer in the browser.

However it's good to know that about your use case. Could you add a feature request to Adobe XD Feedback : Feature Requests & Bugs for this feature?
