Hi
Ive just started to look into XD after years of using photoshop, and am really liking it. However im aware of adobes Aquisition of Figma and how XD is now in 'maintenance mode' and i was wondering if anyone could give me the latest info on what might be happening in the future to Figma/XD? As i dont want to sink lot of time into learning XD if Adobe then scrap it and concentrate on figma.
thanks for your help
Nick

As much as I love using XD, you should learn Figma. In the most recent conference, they are starting to add developer features that XD currently has. Also plugin support is declining with XD. Many of my plugins I have been using in XD are no longer working and the devs are not going to update. I wish they would make it open source so the community can support it, but that's not likely.

im hoping they quickly shutter XD and just role Figma into the creative cloud suite like they're done with Substance apps, as until they do that my place of work probably wont pay for the extra license 😞

We will probably get one tiny mention during the upcoming Adobe MAX keynote. It probably will say "We are still committed to closing this deal..."
Regardless of the outcome, XD is dead. The real question is will Figma become an Adobe property OR will Figma stay independent? Either answer still says to learn Figma as your design tool. Figma just had its annual conference, so I would say take some time to watch those sessions to help get up to speed on some of the new features and to see where they are headed.
