XD to Figma conversion tool

New Here ,

Will there be a tool developed to convert XD files over to Figma since Adobe seems to be sunsetting XD? I have a lot of files already built in XD, and having to rebuild them all in Figma from scratch will be a nightmare.

Hi @Jill_Dodge , I don't have any info about an XD plugin or a seperate tool to export XD files to Figma yet but would like to share a workaround I found here ( https://forum.figma.com/t/xd-to-figma/3956/6 ) : "Export your XD file as SVG, drag & drop to your figma file. It will work perfectly."
You can also check this link for some other info: https://www.websitebuilderinsider.com/how-do-you-convert-xd-to-figma-free/
There's also a Figma plugin to import XD files into Figma (free for 10 XD files

Hope this helps!

I think it's crucial that users can convert XD and Figma files and vice versa so external teams to seamlessly share - especially now that Figma is a part of Adobe.

I have tried using both the SVG export and Converify plugin for Figma and both solutions are severely lacking. Convertify does not recognize XD components and doesn't even import layers of my components so I would have to rebuild most of the designs from scratch. SVG imports move everything around and doesn't keep prototype connections so there is a lot of work to be done after import.

I am really hoping Adobe comes up with a better solution for converting files.

I think Adobe has to provide any tool or any functionality in the XD for exporting/converting XD files to Figma without affecting any layers or vectors so anyone can easily switch to Figma

I certainly hope so. There are users with 10,000s of XD documents that will need to be "saved". Or this could be a business opportunity....

Its a Chutzpah that they would sunset XD and not provide a easy way to port over files to their new offering (they own Figma). Designers had trusted them and paid monthly for their service to use and store their files. Now they just sunset it and not offer a way to port over!?
