XD won't force quit at all, and now I can't shut down my Mac

I'm having an issue with XD not responding to the force quite command, and it doesn't even appear in the Activity Monitor. It still appears in my dock as though it's running, but isn't. Since it's not responding to anything I can't even shutdown. It's been sitting like this for weeks and I'm not technically inclined enough to even know where to start. Do I just wipe the whole thing? Any other ideas?
