XD : Error "Problem importing your SVG asset because it contains invalid SVG markup"

I downloaded the .svg file of the BBC logo from here:

File:BBC News.svg - Wikipedia

It open successfully in illustrator but when I try to paste in XD I get the following error message:

"Problem importing your SVG asset because it contains invalid SVG markup"

I had the same error message when I first saved the .svg as an .ai file, and tried copying and pasting to XD that way.

Any ideas how to remedy this?

Thanks

Hi,

It looks like an issue with AI, more specifically related to how AI represents the imported logo in clipboard before XD attempts to import it.

I just tested and i was able to directly import the above SVG file into XD without going through AI.

Does this help?

Cheers,

M.
