What did you guys do??
I go to prototyping and link a couple art bords together. Share a link and the other 90% of the document is not showing up. I link all the artboards together and still 90% of the document is not showing up.
I am scratching my head and asking why would you bother changing a function that was one of the best parts of the application. Now do not know how to share a file with a developer. Where are all the artboards? Why are they hidden? How do I get them to show up in a developer link?

Hi Nate-comcast,
We apologies for the frustration. If I heard you right, it looks like you have created a development link and open it in a browser, you are unable to see all the artboards that you've created.
In addition to what Vishal has suggested, i would also like to confirm if you have connected all the artboards with your home artboard and with each other and let us know if that works.

Hello everyone,
I have a XD file and I want to share the screens.
I have this message (sorry it's french) :
Le plan de travail "home" ne contient aucune interaction. Ajoutez des interactions ou choisissez un nouveau plan de travail d'accueil.
So, it says I have to connect my screens before sharing. The thing is... I don't want to connect the screens because I want to share them all (and there are many, I don't want to connect all of them). Usually it works without any link. All other screens are greyed out, like they don't want to be shared...
What can I do ?
Thanks 🙂

Hello, i am a UI Designer and i am using XD. Here's a feedback that can be really nice to have:
Can we select artboards that we will share for design review without prototyping or wiring artboards? Sometimes i just want to share some of my artboards and creating lots of XD projects for them is kinda slowing me. Because i create all of the screens for an app in one XD project.
Or can we have a button for clearing all the wires in prototype mode? I work with almost 100 artboards and its pretty hard to unwire them one by one.
I really love XD btw it's easy to use and so handy. Thank you for your effort.

I am frequently wanting to show ALL artboards in a Developer shared XD layout when some of the boards are linked/wired and some are not.
I cant seem to do this and I have to resort to arbitrarily connecting some random part of one artboard to another just to get it to show up. This is a silly practice and I need a better solution.
If the only way to achieve this is to remove ALL prototype links/wires, is there a way to do that in one shot? Or is there a different/better technique I should know about.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Can I set the status that no artboards are set as "Home artboard"?
I want to remove its status, but once I set it, it seems to be impossible to remove.
I'm creating the component spec (like a button, header, text fields, and so on) on XD so it isn't need to link each artboards, but need to share all of the artboards.
If I have to link all of the artboards to share the spec, it's so annoying.
Or do you have any good solution to share all of the artboards as spec except the way "Link all of the artboards"?

I know I'm not the only one with this issue, and I can't tell you how extremely frustrating this is! When trying to update my sharable link, I get this error:
The artboard "Insert Artboart Name here" contains no interactions. Please add interactions or choose a new home artboard.
The only solution I've found by digging around online is to copy everything out of the current file and in to a new one. And I mean, EVERYTHING. All artboards. Presto, error message is gone.
Surely this can't be the solution? Please tell me how I can fix this. One conversation I found has been locked due to adobe stating that this is not a bug. That the software is operating as intended.
I've even tried removing all interactive elements and I still get this error.
Help?

When I created the file, I was not using the current version. Then I updated, but the problem persisted.
NONE of my artboards are currently connected. I made the 'mistake' of testing how the new hover interaction, which made my buttons interactive. Even though nothing was linked to anything. I tried to remove them all and delete all of the interactivity, but XD still wanted things connected (even though they never were). I don't know how to remove the "home" artboard setting. Can NO artboards be set to home? I'm so super confused.
That said, I've updated XD, as mentioned, and I've tried to replicated the issue and it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. Does that mean it was fixed with the latest update?

In the recent update, I am facing an issue with sharing artboards for development. When I create a link for the first time, all the artboards are selected and it works fine. But when I make any changes, or add screens, for some reason the new artboards along with some old ones remain unselected/greyed-out and do not get updated in the link. Why is this happening? Sure Italosan,
1. My XD version - 25.1.12
2. PC - Windows 10 - 64 bit
3. So far, faced this issue with 3 different files (twice with the immediate previous version-24.4.22 I assume, and once with the current)
4. I am not really sure what does 'the artboards need to be connected' mean? It wasn't really a prototype if that's what you are asking. They were only design files that were being shared with the dev-team.
How I've dealt with it so far is - I simply copy all the artboards to a new file, all the artboards are then shareable and I end up creating a new link for this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Thank you for sharing the information asked by Italo. "The Artboards needs to be connected"means you need to make sure that in Prototype mode all the artboards are connected with each other as well as with home artboard.
If you have nothing connected in Prototype mode, then you need to make sure that you haven't made any artboard as home artboard to share all the artboards.
Hope it helps.

Hey, not sure exactly what you mean, might be nice if you can share a screen of your environment. You can change the "Home" artboard by selecting a different artboard in prototype mode and clicking on the little home icon in the upper left corner. You don't need a new share link, you just need to update the one you already have.
If not all artboards are getting shared and some are greyed out in the share mode, this is because some of them have interactions between them, and some don't. Only the ones which are "connected" to each other will show up in the prototype.

Appreciate your reply. All my artboards are not wired in prototype mode, it's just that when I share my project only the one with the "home artboard" is selected others are greyed out. It says that I have to link/wire the other artboards for me to share it. Is there a way to share all my artboards without linking/wiring them to the home artboard?
Copy link to clipboard
Copied
You can't really do anything in share mode, it only shows which artboards are "active". You must make changes in prototype mode.
The 'home artboard' needs to have some connection to the others if you want them to show up. It doesn't need to have a connection to all artboards individually, it can just have a connection to another artboard, which itself is connected to the others, but it needs to be a part of the "chain".
The other option is to not have any interactions at all, and this way everything shows up, but the only way to navigate will be arrows and the bottom navigation.
Copy link to clipboard
Copied
I removed all the interactions/wires/links, the only thing I can't remove is the home artboard. Before I messed around with the prototype mode there is no selected home artboard and I can share all my artboards.
Copy link to clipboard
Copied
Home artboard will always be there. You can only change which one is the home artboard, but you can't have it without one. Even if you delete it, the 'home' marker will go to another one.
There isn't a home selected when you make a new file, but that's not the issue. Your prototype needs to start somewhere. If you don't have any connections whatsoever in the whole file, all artboards should have the blue border in 'share' mode. If it's still not the case, you probably missed a wire somewhere. Select all the artboards in prototype mode and it will show up.

Thank you so much, I will check each and every layer in my artboards for missed wire. Appreciate the help. 🙂

Hi,
I have this problem where I've applied interactions to a page. This page messes up the ability to Share a presentation - since only said page shows. There are no left/right arrows to navigate the presentation! If I remove the prototyped page the arrows are back. Is this a bug or a feature? 🙂

Hi Harishka,
I can't show you the problem since it's an ongoing project, but I've discovered that my problem is discussed on this thread (where you provided an answer!):
There seem to be no clear solution to the problem of artboards not showing i Presentation mode except that you have to connects all artboards with each other and the Home artboard, which is a clunky "solution" at best and works just so-so. I also tried killing all my prototype connections but that didn't solve the problem. Only pasting each artboard into a new XD file worked. Luckily I only have like ten pages in my project. But what if there where a hundred? That would take precious time.
In the thread you say that:
"If you have nothing connected in Prototype mode, then you need to make sure that you haven't made any artboard as home artboard to share all the artboards."
But if I have made an artboard the Home artboard, how do I "deselect" it - and will I be able to see all artboards in the presentation if I do?
Possibly I don't understand how XD works, but this prototype/share/presentation problem seems to need some work from Adobes side. 🙂

Johan

As a workaround, you can copy paste everything from design mode by pressing CTRL+A on windows & CMD+A on mac into a new document where you don't have any artboard as home artboard and then you can share all your artboards with no interaction.
Let us know if that helps.

Don't know if it will help anyone else, but I managed to get my one artboard file to share by creating a hover interact in a component. That seemed to do the trick.

Yes sharing prototypes between dev's and designers is great for the dev hand off.
However now and again I use the share link to show non designers separate pages. I now HAVE to PNG them and send them over. BUT: If prototype is in the document I now no longer can quickly share - my question is why change this? Need help with your Ux hit me up.
Also I have a big project with multipul screen sizes in and because some of the work is prototyped I cant share all artbords for viewing because I have to set the home artboard....what? makes no sense. It makes sense if your only sharing a prototype but why take away a good option of just simply being able to view. Some people don't have time to go through the steps of the design they just want to see the Ui.
Thanks Matt

If you have prototyping set on any of your artboards (clicking an item links to another artboard for example) than any artboards without prototyping will not be included in the share link. You could override this by just adding a link from one artboard to the artboard you're seeing grayed out. When we create a prototype, we sometimes create a new "navigation" artboard for moving between artboards in the prototype.

I'm having the same problem. This is absolutely stupid functionality. Why can't I simply get a share link that includes all my artboards? I want to be able to send a link to my client that lets them tab through the artboards. I don't want to have to prototype or psuedo-prototype every one of my 80 artboards just to share it with them. Why wouldn't you give us an option to share all artboards, Adobe? I can't believe I'm even having to type this. Please give us this functionality asap. It's extremely important.
Copy link to clipboard
Copied
Yeah, agreed that is one way. Little time consuming so I just copied the whole project over and renamed 'Xd Link - xxx'.
Really need to bring back the ability to just share all as a link for clients to glide through.
I work with a design system and do not need fancy animations all the time to create new pages unless we are bringing in a new element or I feel the design needs to be animated for maximum cleanness.
-
Prototypes are very important but sometimes unneeded. Or only some very small parts of the Ui it is needed for.
Sometimes the client simply wants to view pages + some separate Ui patterns like Swipe cards, gallery Uis & payment flows.
Since the update I now have to create separate files for prototypes and screens unless I want to spend hours interacting the designs to be 'web perfect'.
Thanks!

Yeah, I work with a design system so animations are not always needed for a new page design ha so this sucks.
*See my reply comment above for a quick-ish work around for now but just stupid.

I can't wrap my head around why prototyping interactions is a mandatory prerequisite for EACH SCREEN you want to share with someone. It's just nonsense. Adobe, please let us share a link that simply lets others flip through the artboards.

For now - Copy over all the artboards into a new file. Share for review or dev and all should be okay.
Just annoying that we have to create a new project.

The way it works today is:
Case 1 - If you have a Home artboard set/defined in canvas, then only the artbaords that are linked/wired to that home artboard is published in the link.
Case 2 - If you do not have any Home artboard set, then all artboards present in your document will get published in the link. Sequence would be left to right and top to bottom.
This behavior is not new and has not changed in recent release as well. Since it was not always obvious (as there was no visual feedback) for you to identify which screens are going to be published when you create a link - we added that capability in Share mode where-in now you can see the screens getting published (based on existing scases) highlighted. All other screens get greyed out to give you that feedback.
Now coming to the specific use case that has been highlighted in this thread (ability to publish all artboards irrespective of whether they are wired or not) - I can totally understand why that is an important scenario and I agree to it. While I cannot comment on the exact timeframe by when it would be added, but note that we are actively looking into enabling this use case.
Thanks!

I found that if you have a screen set as the home screen in prototype mode that all screens that occur in the prototype progression previous to the home screen will be greyed out. So basically if you have a prototype with 10 progressive screens (they go in order 1-10) and #4 is your home screen, then 1-3 will be greyed out and won't appear when you share. When I made my "#1" equivalent in my prototype my "home" screen it solved the problem for me. To change the home screen, you just go to "prototype" and click the grey box just on the outside of the top left of artboard you want to be the home screen. It should turn blue and should be your new home screen.
I'm sure this doesn't solve the problem if the screen you have set as the home screen needs to remain set as the home screen, however, because of the nature of my project, this could be changed and helped me.
Hopefully this is helpful.

Hi ArunKaza,
I was able to publish all the artboards in my file up until today, however, now everything is disabled that's not linked in prototype mode. Regarding your comment "If you do not have any Home artboard set", how do I do this? I can't find any option to remove the Home marking from the artboard. Even if I delete the Home artboard it just marks the next one as Home. The only solution I found is copying everything into a new file...
