would love to see Adobe's plan for the year ahead (hope ANE for WebKit Windows / Mac is in as well...)

I think a (Google or Bing) Map component for AIR desktop is much, much needed, especially after MapQuest is dropping support.

or have a thorough example of using Google Maps in a (stage web view) with communication between the desktop air app, and the web view.

A Bing map Air Native Extension is very possible. It could use the Bing Maps Control for WPF.

StageWebView doesn't support JavaScript interaction so you would need to use an ANE version of a WebView.

It would be straight forward to use Google Maps based on existing tutorials.
