Is there any word on when Adobe plans on updating the Flash IDE to support AIR 3?

Dave Gámez has an excellent post on how to update your Flash Professional

That article seems to be geared towards desktop use of Flash Player 11, and as this is a mobile forum I took it the question was asking about mobile use. You can do the AIR 3.0 overlay in order to publish Air 3 mobile apps, but I believe the question may have been more to do with being able to select captive runtime without having to use the command line.

There was an answer to that before, but it was a vague "future version, can't say when" answer.

It starts with setting up for Flash Player 11, but it then adds in the changes for AIR3. But you are right, any captive runtime usage is still command line only.

Yes and that is the issue. To utilize all the new features of AIR 3 you must use the command line which for us has become a big pain in the ass.

We've got nothing against using the SDK but we've had a difficult time finding current documentation in relation to AIR3 on using command line specifically for iOS and desktop.

If anybody has a good link it would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone clarify what "captive runtime usage" refers to? I am curious what is possible when publishing for IOS when using AIR 3.0 without the use of the command line. I am using Flash CS5.5 IDE.

I'm using Flash CS5.5 IDE and Air3.0, the only thing I need to use the command line for (ADT) is when using extensions as they are not supported for CS5.5 IDE yet.

So far I've not managed to get any extensions to work with command line. Sure, I might have the right command line syntax thingies, but the problem is what I have to do in the xml+flash for the extensions to work.

You ask about "captive runtime usage", to me "runtime" is the the AdobeAir program that runs the flash files on Android. Now with Air3.0, you can include the runtime in the Android APK so the users don't have to ever get that "install adobe air" request ever again. To include the runtime you need to use the command line.

Thanks for the swift reply TenchyMyo - very useful.

It sounds like the extensions are difficult to implement via Flash CS5.5 IDE which is a shame as I would like to use in-app purchase extension. Why can't they make these things simpler for us or at least have some decent documentation?!!
