Adobe Air error message - macOSX Catalina

I keep getting an error message aboutAdobe Air when I open an application (Traffic) that requires Adobe Air. The error message is: “Adobe AIR.framework” is damaged and can’t be opened.

This has begun since I updated to macOSX Catalina.

Why is this, and will an update be released to fix this?

    I just updated to Big Sur and am getting that error message. Will the code provided work?

    I have not tried it as I'm not using big sur, but the principle is the same so give it a try and report back your success.

    Maybe try:

    You can open an app that isn’t allowed to open by manually overriding the settings in Security & Privacy preferences.

    1. In the Finder

      on your Mac, locate the app you want to open.

      Most apps can be found in the Applications folder.

    2. Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.

    3. Click Open.

      The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it, just as you can any authorized app.

    Hi all

    I am having the same issue as many others here - compounded by the fact I am a new Mac user.  Desperately trying to access NHS rostering service for my staff, but unable to instal AIR correctly.  Having followed the instructions on here I am seeing this in the Terminal:

    drwxr-xr-x   5 root  wheel   160 19 Nov 12:43 .

    drwxr-xr-x  64 root  wheel  2048 19 Nov 10:04 ..

    drwxrwxr-x   5 root  wheel   160 19 Nov 12:43 Adobe AIR.framework

    drwxr-xr-x   5 root  wheel   160 24 Oct  2019 PluginManager.framework

    lrwxr-xr-x@  1 root  wheel    50  1 Jan  2020 iTunesLibrary.framework -> /System/Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework

    andrewlouise@Andrews-MacBook-Pro Frameworks %

    It also will not allow me to uninstal as that file is damaged.

    If anyone could please help - I am getting desperate.

    If you followed the terminal commands from my earlier post you should be OK.

    I have included them again below.

    If you try them again and have no luck then post the entire terminal session contents here and we can attempt to help you further.

    1. Open Terminal and enter this command ( just copy and paste it into the terminal from here )

    cd /Library/Frameworks

    2. Next enter this command ( copy and paste into terminal )

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ./Adobe\ AIR.framework

    3. Finally use this command to check if the command in step 2 worked. ( or just try running your app or install your air package again )

    ls -l@ ./Adobe\ AIR.framework/

    You're a lifesaver. Adding the codes through the TERMINAL worked just fine.

    Now, I'm able to use Pass Classic with Catalina. AWESOME!!!

    SEE BELOW:

    After Installing Adobe Air...

    These few lines in the terminal will get you out of trouble

    cd /Library/Frameworks
    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ./Adobe\ AIR.framework

    Then use:

    ls -l@ ./Adobe\ AIR.framework/

    to check the framework is no longer quarantined

    Catalina has wreaked havoc on my MacBook Pro since install. Wish I had never installed it.

    Hi, my trusted software i rely on needs Adobe Air and no longer opens with Catalina. I'm not overly techy and see a lot of info flying about. Could someone direct me towards the easiest way to follow with as limited risk as possible??

    Many thanks.

    Just open a Terminal (Applications>Utilities>Terminal) and paste the following:

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /Library/Frameworks/Adobe\ AIR.framework/

    That's it! Enjoy!

    We have an Elvis app that requires Air and needed to have it running.

    Hi, could you post a full transcript of your terminal session so we can see what happened?

    Found this link that solved the issue for me - for at least getting an application to open that required AIR.

    Hey James,

    still not working here, Catalina 10.15.3. I did follow your link for correct installation of Adobe Air on mac. Adobe Air Framework is correctly installed in Libraby/Framework and Adobe air installer and uninstaller are located in Application/Utilities folder.

    I did copy paste the first line in the terminal, then the second. I do enter my password. Then I use your third command and it says this :

    total 0
    lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root wheel 26 18 avr 2019 Adobe AIR -> Versions/Current/Adobe AIR
    com.apple.FinderInfo 32
    com.apple.quarantine 58
    lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root wheel 26 18 avr 2019 Resources -> Versions/Current/Resources
    com.apple.FinderInfo 32
    com.apple.quarantine 58
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 128 18 avr 2019 Versions

    The app I wanna use that required Abobe Air is still not running, telling me to update it. Adobe Air updater says I already have last versions, then pop up on screen once again says "Adobe Air. Framework" is damaged...

    Any idea what I could have done wrong ? (Non native speaker here, sorry for any mistakes I might have make)

    Thanks again for yout time, Cyril

    Hi, same problem here, so here is what I tried:

    first went in /Library/Frameworks/

     when typing ls -l@ it was written that Adobe AIR.framework had several files under com.apple.quarantine

    then I ran sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine Adobe\ AIR.framework/ and it make the quarantine flag disappear from it:

    > ls -l@

       total 0

       drwxr-xr-x  5 root  wheel  160 18 avr  2019 Adobe AIR.framework

       dr-xr-xr-x  6 root  admin  192 18 avr  2012 Cg.framework

       drwxr-xr-x  5 root  wheel  160 13 oct 10:44 PluginManager.framework

       lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root  wheel   50 13 oct 10:38 iTunesLibrary.framework -> /System/Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework

    com.apple.rootless   0

    However the message saying "Adobe air is damaged and cannot be open" still persists, and apps using adobe air wont launch saying it needs to be installed.

    From there, still in /Library/Framework I went into Adobe AIR.framework and now I get the same list as Cyril88 above:

    > cd Adobe\ AIR.framework/

    > pwd

       /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework

    > ls -l@

       total 0

       lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root  wheel   26 18 avr  2019 Adobe AIR -> Versions/Current/Adobe AIR

       com.apple.FinderInfo 32

       com.apple.quarantine 57

       lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root  wheel   26 18 avr  2019 Resources -> Versions/Current/Resources

       com.apple.FinderInfo 32

       com.apple.quarantine 57

       drwxr-xr-x  4 root  wheel  128 18 avr  2019 Versions

    Here, it seems impossible to remove the quarantine flag. Maybe it has something to do with all these symlinks, idk...

    What I tried from there:

    sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine *

    > sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine Version/

    > sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine Version/*

    None of them worked, inside Adobe framework there are still quarantined objects.

    Any idea from there?

    Thanks

    Did you use the

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ./Adobe\ AIR.framework

    line after you  issued the

    cd /Library/Frameworks

    command?

    I think you may have had an extra / at the end of the first line which could be your problem. Copy paste it from here and see if this gives you any joy!

    i.e.

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ./Adobe\ AIR.framework

    NOT

    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine ./Adobe\ AIR.framework/
