Adobe Animate is crashing every 5 min for the last 3 weeks and I am losing my mind because of it

Ive been using Adobe Animate off and on since early 2023, when my school gave me an account. And since feb 2024, I've been using it a great deal more on my Alienware Windows PC. Back then, I hardly had any crashing issues. But recently, for whatever reason, Animate has been crashing so much that it is just insane. Everywhere I look online, nothing works and it seems like nobody else has the same issue as me.

I use Animate to make little 1 - 3 min animated YouTube videos and I'm pretty comfortable working with this software, so I know there is something new going wrong here.

1st, I bought a new Dell Windows computer (link removed-kglad) about 3 months ago, and it is running the new Windows 11 operating system. I have 32 GB RAM, Intel i9-14900K CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, and 2 TB internal memory across two SSD's.

The crashing has increased drastically within the last 3 weeks, but when I got this PC, this was not happening.

When I'm doing basic things like drawing, moving symbols around, altering frames, and even just playing the animation, Adobe Animate will immediately crash and the window will close showing my desktop.  It happens so often and suddenly that using the program makes me extremely anxious about it crashing at any moment and losing my progress. I've developed a schizophrenically repetitive habit of saving my project after every single action that I do in Animate, and I am sure that's not good for my SSD long term, but it's the ONLY way that I can have any valuable progress with this software in this state.

From googling this problem, I have a list of things that may be causing this issue:

  • An outdated graphics driver - Ive installed the NVIDIA Studio Driver, and Intel's 'Killer' driver, but crashes still occur.
  • A broken version of Animate - I've uninstalled/reinstalled Animate nearly 5 times now, not helping.
  • My memory is low? - I have 32 GB ram, and Task manager shows me that I have a lot of available memory.

I tried using my old computer to see if it would crash with my current project and somehow that computer's version of Adobe Animate (2023) wouldn't crash at all. It's the same project that would crash on my new PC. So this is how I know the problem is not the file I'm using or its size of 0.75 GB. Animate will also crash with new, much smaller project files.

I've also tried rolling back to that 2023 version of animate, but it didn't help.

This doesn't make any sense. Why is Adobe Animate crashing so dang much on my new $2,500 Dell PC  but not at all on my old Alienware from 6 years ago? Is it the new Windows 11? Is it my Intel i9 CPU? (my old computer had an AMD CPU.) Did I miss some other graphics driver somewhere? Why is it crashing now and not back then?

I have been desperately looking for a solution to this issue for hours on end these last 3 weeks. Anything will help, I feel like a poor beggar asking for pocket change ðŸ˜

I've attached a video of it crashing that I happened to be recording on a stream yesterday.

Did not help.
1 . I started by resetting my preferences following This discussion's directions. I've been using 5 of my own custom hotkeys for a while now, so no need to make a new one for confirmation. So I removed everything from my roaming and Configuration folders to reset my preferences. This did remove my pre-existing custom keyboard shortcuts, but after the change, 2 min into testing animate, it crashed like it usually does.

2. I read somewhere about resetting my preferences via uninstalling the software, and removing preferences "fully" that way, but again after testing, the crash persists.

I'm skeptical that this is a flaw with my new computer, I mean, chrome, Discord and Spotify often close themselves loads of times (very similarly to Adobe animate) but I don't have much evidence for that other than the fact that my old machine runs everything much more reliably.

Yeah, all of today I've been troubleshooting, trying everything I can find online, and all the while I've been jumping between old fla projects and making new ones to test with but it's universal across all files regardless of their size or age.

This morning I made a project called "Oct 7" to draw in and as soon as I got up to 25 frames full of drawings, it began crashing. It seemed to be going just fine before this point. The "RECOVER_RECOVER_RECOVER" file is 3,561 KB in size and contains 34 frames if that helps. But I'm convinced its more than just the contents of the files at this point.

Honestly, I'm thinking I'll just going to get a new computer. Nothing I've tried seems to be solving any of my issues whatsoever. I've heard a lot of bad things about the Intel i9 CPU and it's the only thing I can possibly imagine to be causing Animate to crash and my other software problems as well.

I tried that, but it's still crashing pretty often. I reset my pc after backing up my data, and it's still crashing when I draw. I tried going back to version 23.0.3 because I heard that it would help, but no it's still crashing like never before. My best hope is that when I get a new computer it won't be an issue anymore.
