Adobe Animate keeps freezing my computer

Whenever Adobe Animate is not responding for a certain amount of time, it causes my pc to freeze. I don't know why that happens. My computer is only 1.8 months old, has 1.75 terabytes of free space and is running at an average speed. Is it because of a virus or something? How do I prevent my pc from freezing when Adobe Animate is not responding?

Hey so the problem might be that you didnt purge unused items in the file library and its eating RAM.  Solution: Hit Ctrl L (library)>Top Right>(Select Unused Items)> it will the highlight all the objects still in your file that are not currently on the canvass, then right click and hit delete.  Restart Animate.

This should purgue all unused items, will bring down file memory size, and hopefully free up the lag.

Make sure your computer can handle adobe animate.

Here are the computer requirements to run animate.

Im having major issues too, i have a basic text with mask auto animating when you click a more button to reveal the text field and it takes 1.5min. Its also now happening with drag on a scroll bar. There is no heavy animations and its unusable. You cant show this to a client!

Shouldn't the question be "why is Adobe Animate not responding" in the first place?

What do you actually mean by "Adobe Animate is not responding for a certain amount of time"? Is it not reponding according to your Task Manager? And you try to do things in Animate but it's not working, not reponding.

Or does it mean, Animate is running in the background but you are working in other apps and after a while your computer freezes?

To the people having the problems can you let us know how much RAM your system has? Also what other apps are you running when the freezing occurs?

To get which apps use most memory when it's going slow then go into Task Manager (if you can), on the Processes tab click on Memory column header to put the apps using the most Memory (RAM) in order (might have to click twice) and make a note of them.

You can also right click on an app in Task Manager and select 'End Task', which will hopefully close it.

It might not necessarily be Animate CC that is causing the freezing, it could be another app conflicting with Animate CC and therefore Animate CC is freezing. But as we dont know your full set up there is potentially other things causing the freezing.

Cheers.

Hi Gory Greg

I am resently sarted having this problem whilst working on a project. I have 16GB of Ram(memory) and adobe animate would roughly take up 1,250MB which isn't much. But 38% of the momory is in use with other programs in the background using it. Adobe is the highest % app using data, however i don't know why it would stop adobe from working non stop. Recently it's been everytime i try and click on a frame it would take it up to 2mins to come around and respond again. This is before I even edit the frame it self.

So 6.2GB of Ram are in use out of 16GB do you think it should be effecting it so drastically or should I try something new like re installing, configuring the program or closing down some background apps.
