Adobe Animate did not get any updates for 2 years now. They have no idea what to do with it, they make us migrate to Express or After Effects, What about Action Script?
Would it be possible to get a petition going for Adobe to release their software to the public? If they're not gonna do anything with it anymore, then what's the harm in releasing it as open source for everyone to use and develop further, as they wish?
Yesterday, Adobe shared an email with Adobe Animate customers on the future of Animate. What we shared did not meet our standards and caused a lot of confusion and angst within the community. On behalf of Adobe, I want to apologize.
While an email to all Animate customers will go out shortly, we wanted to quickly share a few things: 1) our standard approach for applications in maintenance mode, 2) changes to our plans for Adobe Animate and its status, and 3) our commitments to ensuring that you always have access to your content, regardless of the state of development of an application.
Standard Approach for Applications in Maintenance Mode
If we deprioritize active development of an application, our approach is to move that application into maintenance mode with continued support. Under maintenance mode, the application will continue to be available, will continue to receive security and bug fixes, but will not get new features.
If we decide to go a step further and discontinue a product, we will work closely with the community to ensure they have adequate time to plan in order to minimize disruption and will take steps so that the community continues to have long-term access to their content.
Current State of Adobe Animate
Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode. While we are no longer adding new features to Animate, we will continue to support it and provide ongoing security and bug fixes. More importantly, Animate will continue to be available for both new and existing users. This is a change from what we communicated in the email yesterday for the status of Adobe Animate, its time-frame, and availability.
To be clear, we are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate and it will continue to be available to both existing and new customers.
Commitments for long-term content/file access
For Adobe Animate, our commitment is to work with the community to ensure users continue to have long-term access to their content, regardless of the state of development of the application.
Looks like they may have shifted a bit with all the well justified rage around this. Great job, Adobe! Keep on purchasing and crippling legacy software, you bloated monopoly, while radicalizing a whole new generation of pirates.
I am not sure why this action is being taken, personally this is going to cause a definite disruption to my workflow, and I may end up cancelling my service altogether or only subscribing to one or two of the applications. This is kind of awful news, not going to lie.
I just want to say that I loathe this company and I only wish them the worst. Everything they touch slowly dies. Animate was their strongest software and they just don’t fucking know it, only because people are too lazy to actually draw and prefer to play with the tween settings in shitty effects. Less they could do was to update it for stability or distribute it as open source.
Ending my subscription as soon as my time is up, just so that I don't have to give them more money.
Honestly the only software I couldn’t replace was Animate. Since I will no longer have it, there is no reason to throw my money just so that a fat corporate preak can wipe their stinky ass with them.
Back to piracy it seems, leaving was pure stupidity from the start.
Well, it's official now. Adobe Animate will be discontinued starting 1 March 2026. Can't say I am surprised by the outcome, considering the years that have led up to it.
Now that Animate will be discontinued, I don't have a reason to continue in the ACP/CE program.
It was a great journey in which I learned a lot and had a lot of fun, but unfortunately the greedy Creative Cloud subscription model, political agenda and this AI madness made Adobe lose its way. I have never in my life seen a company treat its users with such disrespect as it has treated Flash users in recent years.
I'll still be around if someone needs my help, but now more than never I'll move on and finally leave anything Adobe-related behind, as Animate was the only reason I was still a CC user.

God bless.
Yes, I agree. I could even try using After Effects because, although I don't know much about it, I know the learning curve would be shorter because of the similarities with Animate, but I'm not going to switch to AE OUT OF ANGER. What Adobe has done with Animate is terrible. I'd rather go with some other software that isn't from that company, especially since even in the threads about Animate being discontinued, there's a suggestion to use After Effects. It's actually kind of offensive. 😞
