Animate - Masking doesn't work in the file I'm working on.

I am doing as instructed, and have tried with another file to see if I was doing it wrong. It works in the new file I created but on this one masking just doesn't work!
Once I click to lock both layers they simply both disappear completely.
Did I leave some checkbox unchecked or is this a bug?

Edit:

I have tried reopening animate and have tried pasting the whole thing to a new file... it didn't help.

The contents of the layers disappear or the layers themselves disappear? Can you post the file somewhere and I'll take a look?

The contents of the layers used to disappear. Since no one answered me, I resorted to alpha fades and kept working on the project. Now that I'm trying to replicate the issue on the same file it works.

Both layers disappear completely!!

Your layers look fine. Not sure what is going wrong - what does it look like when layers are locked?
