Animate Render issues

Hey Gang,
We seem to find the weaknesses in Animates Publish process. What we are finding is that when we send a fla to render via our publish script, 95% of all FLAs work. But we have found that the 5% fails when PUBLISHING but works when we File->Export Movie->PNG seq. Never a failure using Export.
The crappy thing is when automating renders we cannot call Export. Only Publish. So what we are seeing is Animate is still using 2 different render processes and the Publish side is not as reliable as Export Movie.
If anyone out there has scripted the ability to render via the Export option instead of Publish, please let us know. Nothing like doing work and not being able to reliably have Adobe render properly.
any help is appreciated.
Mark
PS. I have many example FLAs that fail using publish(on may different systems) but works if we manually export.

I am checking with the team to see if they have heard of anything like this previously.
For quick investigation, I suggest contacting us using this link: Contact Customer Care

Did you call support? Did they provide you with any info before they gave you the case number?
Thanks,

No, they are working on it now. I sent them 4 FLAs that are experiencing the Publish failure..

Perfect. They should be getting back to you with the results of their investigation. If your issue gets resolved, do post the solution here for the benefit of other users.

will do for sure!!
I think any company that tries to automate Animate renders will be experiencing the same issue..Especially if they use PS backgrounds..
More to follow!

Hey There,
I received a notice from support that they are closing the ticket..did you guys fix the issue we isolated a few weeks ago?
They apparently called me but no emails or contact with our studio..
Can you please let me know the status of the Publish render issue?

I looked at your case notes, and from what I understand, creating a new user account and publishing your file from that account should solve the issue.
Let us know if that worked, or if you still need assistance.
Thanks,
Preran

Ok....so let me get this straight...Locally I was able to replicate this issue with my user acct..then your team replicated the issue with their account..my user id is different then the render boxes ids and they failed. And the solution is to use a different ID?
That leads me to believe that Publish render failed using multiple id's.
This is not an answer and goes against what we proved out while testing with customer service. Same FLA, 2 different ID's both had the same issue. Locally, I have multiple render boxes and all had the same outcome.
What is the magic ID I'm suppose to login as?

Could you put your example FLAs somewhere that we can see them? I don't think it's going to be a user ID issue, but it's not inconceivable, if the user has strange characters in their name, and you make a new user that doesn't have strange characters in their name.
There have been problems in the past where export would work and publish would fail, but I though all of those cases had been fixed by now.
Oh, one other thought, are you and your servers publishing to a network drive? That's another thing that can go wrong.

Hi Colin,
Thnxs for your reply. I received an email from Adobe stating they are escalating this issue. Unfortunately i would need you to sign a NDA to fire up the examples. Which I have no issue providing!!
We render locally on the farm (copy FLA over to local publish folder) and once our PNGs are out and Flash closed, we call our MP4 script and then copy to the network. I hear ya about running on the network. we have tried since the Macromedia days to ensure Flash does not touch the network..
I found the Publish side of Animate's render really frustrating over the years..only due to it being the only way to automate..This is my 3rd ticket with Adobe and ALL have to do with JSFL and render.
Let me know if you are willing to sign the NDA and you can see what I showed Adobe.
Thnxs again Colin,
Mark

I don't mind. I'm under NDA with Adobe too, so I'm used to those!
Click my icon to send a private message if that helps.

UPDATE
Went thru customer care and they were able to replicate the issue. They were unable to publish PNGs but were able to Export PNGs successfully...
Now we wait!

Hey Gang,
Here is the update: Part of our render script we export a SWF for our legacy player. Colin Holgate found that if you turn off SWF export the render completed. So the issue is not with the PNG render, its the SWF that fails...Nice find Colin!!!!
