Animate V24 update: brushes working very poorly (EDIT: solved)

The latest Animate update has done something bad to the brushes (both Classic and Fluid).  The stroke has become wobbly to the point it's almost unusable (throwback to Flash's awful tools).

And, while I draw, the controur of the stroke is pixellated (or, not antialiased). It softens when I release the Wacom pen, but to see this happening all the time  is a bad drawing experience.

Has anybody else noticed this?

I enclose two images to explain what's going on (open them so you can look at the strokes in full size). adobe brush 01.jpgadobe brush 02.jpg

EDIT: I downloaded V23 again (V23.0), to compare, and find the same thing is happening.

I can't seem to get a stable stroke even with V23.  Now I'm confused... I know it wasn't like this before. Maybe this post will be useful nontheless.
