BitmapData single reference

I read this page again and again,but still don't get what exactly THE Star SYMBOL is. can anybody tell me about this? thnx a lot

I think it's a shape in Flash Professional that was converted to a symbol, exported in a SWC file, then linked in when compiling the example.

Agreed that this example should have more background info.
