break apart deletes fill PICS INCLUDED

Hey, so I never found out why when i used the "convert lines to fill" deletes random lines. Now I Have noticed another bug. I'm trying to erase a splotch of color from an object, and of course erase does nothing until i hit ctrl+B "break apart" now when I use break apart it causes all the color to dissapear from images. What the heck is wrong with this program and why can I never get a straight answer?
