Brush strokes randomly convrting to vector paths?

So I've been trying to fill this image but I can't and when I select the lines some of them appear to be normal fill strokes but some of them have vector paths around them? and I can't fill those ones in. I have also seen a classmate of mine with the same problem! Is there a way to convert these vector (?) paths into normal fills again?

animate vector paths.PNG

thanks

The reason you are seeing this is because you turned on Object Drawing mode at some point. It's a sub selection of the brush tool. Toggle it on/off with the "J" key. It has value if you want your shapes/strokes/drawings to be "protected" from other shapes.
