BUG: Unable to Import MP3 Files in Flash CS6

I am unable to import mp3 files of any kind in Flash CS6. Tried import to stage, import to library, Drag and Drop... no dice. Receiving a generic error message. Tried closing out and restarting, etc. - still not working.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yep... its completely broken. Cant import any type of mp3 file into a .fla at all in Windows 7 64bit... pretty big bug.

I've been just saving everything out as wav's and importing as a work around.

For Flash CS6 on Win7, you need to update to QuickTime(7.7.1) and iTune(10.5.3.3) to import .mp3 files of which bitrate is larger than 192kbps..

Also, I just discovered that if I'm working in a HTML5 document I CANNOT select any audio file.  However, in an ActionScript3.0 doc you CAN select audio.  So be sure you're using the correct preferences for you project

Import of WAV or MP3 does work in a Canvas FLA. One easy thing to miss is the Options button in the import dialog. If that's not set to All Openable Formats you will only be able to open the type of file it's set to.

I've been having this problem for awhile now. I managed to fix it by resaving the mp3 with a sample rate that's a multiple of 11kHz. (11025Hz, 22050Hz, 44100Hz) This even worked with high bit depths (32 bit depth) and higher bitrates (320Kbps). I have Quicktime installed, but not iTunes, though not sure if it matters.

Here's a reference that gave me the idea, even though it was referring to WAV files.

How to use sound in Adobe Animate CC

Hello,

I am working with CS4 and was very angry about this problem: "not able to import mp3 files into Flash CS4"

Thanks to all this information - especially abot the maximum import Bit rate (160 kbps) - I fond a solution.

My favourite Audio converter is CDex. CDex has settings for changing the conversion bitrate. I reduced the maximum bitrate from 320 kbps to 160 kbps and started the wav - conversoin again. The new mp3 file is now perfect for the flash import.

okay - found another issue related to this. Flash won't accept mp3 files with quality above 44,100 Hz. It WILL allow you to import wave files above 44,100Hz but it will sound like the audio is produced in a tin can- sounds terrible. Hope this helps someone. I think adobe is working on a plan to slowly reduce functionality of their software... You guys need to stop adding features and focus on stability of all your software.

The only way I could get my music to import was to import it into Flash CC. For some reason it wouldn't import into Flash Cs6 though and my whole project is in Flash CS6. Is there any way to fix this or is there a specific reason why it will only import in Flash CC?

I couldn't import any WAV or MP3 files into Flash Professional CS6.

I had this issue when saving out of SoundBooth CS4.  There was a box in the Preferences>MetaData> "Include source XMP on save as"  this prevented Flash from opening the file... When I turned off the check box, MP3 and WAV files suddely worked.

Hope this helps someone else.

I have the same Problem on my Mac OSX 10.7.5. I have the latest Quicktime Version and iTunes is also the newest Version. What do I have to do in order to import or even update mp3 files to my Flash CC project??

I somehow managed to import my file, but still, did not work by Draging it in. Only after update of Quicktime and iTunes, I imported my 30mb file after comverting from .mp3 -> to .wav and it worked. Thanks.
