Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I can open my .fla file just fine but when Animate wants to save (either auto or manual save) the progressbar reaches 49% and then it tells me an error has occured and it needs to close the program. I tried attaching the error code and the .fla file but the forum won't let me, so you'll find them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/100ZYJuamYUBPkAUlpE4EpZtjlCGfp_2M?usp=sharing . So finding a solution might be easier.
Here are some specs you might need to solve this animation mystery:
Specs PC:
Hardware:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-core
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT
Memory: 32 GB SSD
Software:
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
OpenGL: 4.6
Animate: 24.0.5
File:
size: 14,5 MB
type: .fla
Contains sounds, symbols, warped assests, shapes, multiple layers and tweens
Made in animate, not opened in any other applications
And here are the things I've already tried to solve the problem, with no luck:
Tried solutions:
- Updated Windows - no difference
- Updated GPU drivers - no difference
- Checked for Animate updates - on the latest update already
- Tried previous Animate version (24.0.2) - no difference
- Changing the file name - no difference
- Changing the file location while saving - no difference
- Tried saving as .xfl - same error
As you can imagine, I'm really hoping we can figure out why there is this problem with saving this particular file as it is not done and I would like to be able to finish it. Any solutions/work arounds are soo welcome. Thanks in advance!!
This seems to work:
Select all layers on the main timeline > right-click and choose Convert Layers to Symbol, then save.
Once done you can put the layers back on the main timeline if you wish; select the symbol on stage > right-click > Break Apart Symbol to Layers. It'll take a while due to the amount of layers and, apparently, warped assets background processing, which I suspect has something to do with the bug in the first place.

create a new fla
copy the layers from the old and paste into the new fla
save the new fla

If I copy the layers, I also get the error, so unfortunately this doesn't help.

copy a few layers and test.

Tried it and it turned out to be the very first few layers. This is baffling to me since I had already saved the file over a 100 times before getting the error. Will now choose to make the first scene last since it looks very stupid right now. At least I can get on with the work. Thank you so much!
