changing from one background to another

Community Beginner ,

New to Animate, thanks for the help.  I am trying to animate a simple character walking.  Behind him is the background of a hallway.  It moves right to left as the character walks.  Then the character enters the bedroom which is a new background.  It also moves from right to left, then stops.  He interacts with another character and the background dissolves to another scene (background #3).  I'm having trouble getting from one background to the next.  I used new layers for the 2nd background (bedroom) and the 3rd background (new scene).  The classic tween works on the first background but not #s 2 or 3.  Can't find a tutorial that seems to address this.  Again, thanks.

I’m having trouble getting rid of Background #1 while moving into Background #2; same from #2 to #3.  Also having trouble tweening Backgrounds #2 and #3.  Haven’t added the characters yet.  Trying to get the backgrounds functional before anything else.  Thank you.

put the different backgrounds in different layers. add an empty keyframe where you want a background to end.

So sorry, I haven't had time to try the fix -- other projects receiving priority.  I'll let you know next week.  Thank you so much for the suggestion.

I have 3 backgrounds on 3 layers.  They are all converted to graphic symbols.  (The files originally in JPG.)  Each background runs 8 seconds, one after the other.  On the first frame, the background is in one position.  On the last frame, the background is in another position.  I have added classic tweens to each.  Only the first layer moves from right to left as I want it.  Layers 2 and 3 do not move.  I have tried locking the layer to no effect.  I have tried changing the layer order to no effect.  I don't know what else to do.  If there is a tutorial that explains this, please let me know.  Thank you.

Also, as you suggested, I have added an empty keyframe when the image ends after 8 seconds.

adding the empty keyframe was to help you change layers. apparently that now works?

tweening layers 2&3 is the same process as you used on the first layer.

Make sure your backgrounds are in graphic symbols or movie clips to tween them and thier all on different layers.
