Color picker in Animate is only picking from wet art

Hi!

I feel this has happened more recently since one of the updates - my color picker won't pick a color just by clicking on any symbol or group or imported image. It will only let me pick if I click inside a symbol and find the wet art.

Any idea why? I've tried looking for a setting or preference but I can't seem to find anything.

I'm running on Windows 11 and using the latest Animate version

you can try resetting your preferences, if that's worthwhile:

uninstall animate including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then reinstall and rety

To pick color from anywhere on the Stage click on the color swatch in the toolbar and drag toward any area.

No need to change the tool to Color Picker tool before that at all. Any tool can be the active one.
