Create an Animated Symbol from a Sequence

If I have a sequence of frames animated in the main scene, and I want to make them into an animated graphic symbol, what's the easiest way?

The only way I know how at this point is to select a frame, make it a symbol, copy all the following frames, go into the symbol, then paste the frames. Sometimes when I do this the frames are not aligned properly; and I still have to go back to the scene, delete the original frames, and insert frames to the symbol so that it will animate through the whole sequence.

Is this really the only way to accomplish this? It seems like there should be an easier way.

In Animate 2021 there's a quicker method by selecting the layers, right click and choosing Convert Layers to Symbol. Keep in mind though that this only works with layers, not frames.

Hi mate,

Just use Timeline Block To Symbol

This is the easiest and fastest way to do it 🙂

Oh snap- I just posted almost the same exact question. Good to know I wasn't the only one having this issue. There seems like there should be a more elegant way. So if I have a sequence of PNGs on my main timeline, I cannot select a few of those frame to convert to a symbol?

Also there doesn't seem to be an option to "covert layers to frames" even if I have layers with vector objects and not PNGs.
