Edit Sound Envelope Greyed Out

I am trying to add sound to my animation and I can import the sound file (mp3) into the library and then add it to the animation, but I cannot used the Edit Sound Envelope as it is greyed out. Are there any simple settings or steps that I might be missing. I am on an HTML canvas if that matters.

no. no. no. you have have a basic misunderstanding.

a video is a video is a video no matter what app creates it. it doesn't matter if it's premiere element, premiere pro, animate canvas or animate as3.

what matters is the file type you're going to create and it's settings. but that's another topic.

bottomline: use animate as3 to create and export your video. it will be usable online and everywhere else that supports the file type (eg, mp4) you use.

yes, that canvas matters. you can't edit a sound envelope in a canvas document.

Ok, this is very interesting. I have been using the HTML 5 canvas because I want to be able to output videos that can be posted on websites, and with flash going the way of the dodo I have stayed away from it. I can always edit the clips outside of animate, but it is dissapointing that there are so many features that are not available in the HTML 5 format.

Ok. Again, very interesting (as I started with AS3 and found it had better features but could only publish as flash) is there a way (without doing some crazy scripting) to publish/export AS3 to a different video format thant flash?

click file > export > export video. you project will then open in adobe media encoder (ame) where you'll create the actual video file (and choose the video's settings including file type).

if you're using a mac, open ame before starting the export process.

p.s. these steps would be the same if you used a canvas project, but like both @JoãoCésar17023019 and i mentioned (and as you now know), if you're creating a video, use the animate project type that has the most control and features, as3

Is your output a video or an interactive animation?

If it's a video then you should switch to an AS3 document because it has this feature + others.
