Hi,
Following the excellent YouTube/Adobe Tutorial on how to create a character in Animate <superfluous link removed>
Ive followed it before no problem but when Ive come back to it today I have a issue with using the Rectangle Primative Tool.
For some reason when I draw a rectangle using the primative tool it doesnt let me draw anything on top of it. Ive tried arrange and its greyed out.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt!!!
Very strange -<superfluous link removed>

That works - but I want to draw a character on the same layer!

i'm not sure why you want to do that, but you can draw whatever and then cut and paste it, if you want to move it to the top of the display in that layer.

Sounds like the Rectangle tool has Object Drawing mode on and when you choose a different tool to draw on top of it, Object Drawing is turned off. I could be wrong but it's the omnly explanation I can think of. Make sure Object Drawing is on. Also, check that if you are drawing over an existing object using the BRUSH tool, "Paint Behind" isn't the mode the Brush tool is in.

the rectangle primitive tool has no object drawing mode, so how did @_keyframer's comment about the rectangle tool apply?
