How Do I Connect Bones In Two Different Layers?

I am brand-spanking new, but eager to learn.

Issue:

I have three layers on my animal character.

1) the body with the right front and back legs

2) the left front leg

3) the left back leg

I've created bones for the body and right legs. And I've created bones for the font left leg. I have not created bones for the left rear leg. The "body and right legs" layer is on top of my left leg layers.

But how do I connect the body layer bones to the "left" leg bones I created?

Thank you so much.

I believe there is no way to connect elements from different layers into a single bone structure. The reason is that upon assigning a specific element to a certain bone structure, the element is transferred to the special armature layer to which the structure belongs. Each armature is a separate universe, and connections between them are impossible, at least as far as I know.

Okay. Maybe I don't need to?

I've moved the anchor point, for better rotation on the leg. But I still feel as though I should be able to connect bones in two separate layers, regardless.

I have the desired effect, but I'm still curious.

No one uses bones in Animate, because they are unusable.

Don't waste your time.

Wow!

That seems wildly out of touch. From what I've seen and personally experienced while researching and using bones, they're a huge time-saver. So, thanks for your input?

You do a lot of that, I've noticed (from your previous posts)... Dump on folks in weird ways.

Yeah, you're a beginner and I'm a professional with decades of experience. I tried to save you from wasting time of your only life.

Good luck, buddy! Enjoy the armature.

You clearly have issues.

Oh, and your work is solid hack, and lots of it. It's about as original as toilet paper, and half as useful. No wonder you're on the shill path. Keep 'em coming'.

Hey, I just call them like I see them. You don't need to be an Animate pro to know when something looks "exactly" like everything else.

lol.

I hope I'm as "the same" after all your years of experience.

But, it's about quantity, not quality, right? Get out there and scrape that money.

Intelligence, patience, self control and talent are key qualities for developing skill and achieving success in the field of animation.

From what you've been demonstrating here the future doesn't look very promising.

I did explain to you that you don't own this platform and these threads are public.

It is of benefit to others who may stumble upon this thread to learn what works and what doesn't in Animate, and also how not to behave when seeking help.

You didn't explain anything. You just told me it was a waste of time. I came here to learn more about bones. If they prove to be a waste of my time, I still need to know about them, how to use them, and, ultimately, "why" they might be a waste of time.

You're "public" comment is just your excuse to not get off my back.

Got it!

Thank you for this. It confirms my suspicion.

I only ask, because I saw a video in which the narrator was, in deed, connecting different symbols. The bones where snapping to the orgins in each symbol. I wondered if I could do the same thing with .png layers mophed by mesh, but I couldn't get it to work.

So, I simply parented the legs, and each "left" leg simply has its own mesh-warping bone.  And that worked nicely. The mesh warps well, and the layers function as intended.

Thanks for the reply and insights. Much appreciated.
