We have media buys for expanded banner ads. We've accomplished this task using Sizmek, but if we need to create an expanded banner ad outside of Sizmek, we'd like to use Animate. Is there a way to do it using one HTML5 canvas file? Or do we need to create the two different sized canvasses and then "link" them together after output?

Expandable banners are considered rich media. First you should find out which rich media vendor will serve your ads. They have templates. Even if you can expand a file, these ads have frequency caps and metrics you wont be able to duplicate.

Correct. We need to build rich media banner ads in Animate. And we already have a 3rd party vendor serving them that uses templates (Sizmek). However, we also use a DSP and sometimes don't serve through Sizmek, so we have decided to learn how to build in Animate/custom so that we have the flexibility to publish the ads in any platform once built.

There are no cross vendor expandable banners.

I've made similar pieces before, so here's a follow-up answer for anyone Googling for help. Download Google Web Designer (Google's HTML5 banner building tool) and use it to export a template for an expanding banner with basic functionality. Now build your animations in Adobe Animate CC as separate files, and load the canvas elements in the two sizes into the div structure of the template. You can control interaction with JavaScript events you set up within the Animate CC timeline, and tie those events to DoubleClick's functionality for *close*, *expand* etc. That way you can have Google's approved expanding framework, but far more detailed and nuanced animations in both the unexpanded and expanded states.
Hope that helps.

Hi guy_crawford. Your post is very interesting!. It would be exciting to be able to load adobe animate animations into Google Web designer. I tried but couldn't figure out how you did it. I don't know how to load the animations into the div structure. Is the any way you can show me an example or send me a template that you've done this on?
