How to pause a symbol in the middle of an animation?

Probably a very novice question but there's surprisingly no other information about this anywhere else. I currently have a 6s animation where a symbol is supposed to come onto the stage and stay in 1 spot until the video ends. How exactly do you do this? I found a single tutorial on how to do this on YouTube but it doesn't seem to work for me.

you could do it with code or use the stage

using the stage is easier for novices.  ie, add the movieclip you want to appear to the stage at the frame/timeline when/where you want it to appear.
