Is there a way to pan at higher fps?

So I'm animating at around 12 frames per second. Which is fine for my actual animation, but when it comes to the cinematography, I have some more smooth pans I want to achieve but it will only do said pans in the same 12 fps as my animation. Is there a way to somehow just have the pans with more fps to make it smoother? can I simply up the fps and it will auto sync my previous animation? or am I kinda screwed and have to manually go through and re-time everything from scratch...

I am animating to music so timing is pretty important on this one.

If you change the frame rate of the whole timeline, there is a Scale Spans checkbox. If that is checked all of your keyframes will be corrected to match the new frame rate.
