Missing Fonts option doesn't work anymore

Contributor ,
Nov 16, 2022 Nov 16, 2022

Missing fonts aren't detected anymore? As an example I have created a document with a text line set to 'Open Sans'. When I deactivate Open Sans and open the FLA file it should say that this font is missing and offer me the choice to replace it. But instead it just opens the document and turns all texts for which the fonts are missing into Helvetica. When I go to Font Mapping I also see no mention about missing fonts. This is both on my Mac at home and at work. I'm using Animate 2023 (23.0). And since this update 'missing fonts' isn't working anymore. Probably Animate needs another update?

Hi @jiggy1965 - Have you selected Dont show again anytime? Can you please try Preferences > General > Reset All Warning Dialogs and see if that help bring back the dialog next time when open a file containing missing font?

Thanks!

Mohan

No need. Both my Mac at work and at home were only just recently updated to the 2023 version. And in both I dind't select 'Don't show again' on anything. That 'reset all warnings dialogs' is also not clickable because of that. Both have the same result. When I open a file in which fonts would be missing, instead of that missing fonts dialogue, it turns all texts which have that missing font into Helvetica. Making me think those texts were indeed Helvetica while they are not.

The Font Mapping window only appears until the version 22.0.2. From 22.0.3 to 23.0.1 the Font Mapping window doesn`t appear and the missing fonts will be automattically replaced with "Helvetica". I have a MacBook with Ventura 13.2.

are you claiming it's only an issue in mac computers or macs with ventura or something else?

I have this problem since version 22.0.3. And other users have the same problem.

I´m working with two Animate versions now. To check the Font Mapping I open the files with 22.0.2. After installing the fonts I work with 23.0.1.

But the bug should be fixed after 1 year.

what other users?  clearly, not all users.

ie, what's in common with the "other users that have this problem"?  are you all sharing a particular fla?

jiggy1965 has the same problem.

I will contact the Adobe support. Hopefully they can help me.
Unfortunately, Abobe products are very buggy lately.

Do you have a solution for my problem?

I have uninstalled Animate already with all the presetings. And I have the problem on my three Macbooks (2013er, 2019er and 2021er).

no, i don't know the solution.

the most common solution is resetting all preferences.  if you were careful to select that option when uninstalling, doing the following isn't going to help, but at this point it's worth a try:

first, define a custom keyboard shortcut, if you have no custom settings in animate.

then close animate

then press and hold Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Animate.

is your custom keyboard shortcut reset?

if yes, is the problem resolved

if no, show your text preferences.

I have reseted animate with command+option+shift:

And all my shortcuts are gone now.

But I still have the same problem. The Font Mapping window does not open and the fonts are automatically replaced with Helvetica:

paste a screenshot of your text preferences panel.  (do you know how to open your animate preferences panel > text?)

You mean on my three computers. With different macOS versions.

And only from the Animate version 22.0.3 and higher.

And jiggy1965 has the same problem.

That sounds like a bug to me.

you can try to report to adobe, but last i checked it wasn't possible.

for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html
