My draws convert to symbol automatically

Hello, i was creating some sprites, so first i make the body i convert it into a symbol then a draw the arms and i wanted to make the shadow but i tried, the the line work of the arm was surrounded by a square and I don't know how to automatically render my drawing in normal and then convert to symbol.

hopefully, you've found the answer by now, but for others, disable object drawing mode.

after drawing an object you can right click over the object and click "break apart" to convert the object to a shape.
