Navigate between layers in Animate CC's timeline

New Here ,
Sep 09, 2021 Sep 09, 2021

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a quicker option to move between layers in your timeline over a shortcut, eg. crtl+ arrow up/down, so you don't have to select your active layer every time per mouse click?

Thank you for your help!

i'm not sure what you're trying to do but you can probably do it with a jsfl script.  eg, if you wanted to select the layer above or below the current layer, you can do that with a jsfl script and then assign that script a shortcut.

you're welcome.

p.s. you want to check the timeline methods and properties.  i think it has everything you need and i don't think you even need to use the layers object.

Hi mate,

I thought I had seen such commands in the huge 'collections' I've accumulated over the years, so I found them for you.

Seem to be doing what you need. Just did a quick test in AA 21.0.8.

Unzip, put the JSFL files in your Commands folder and give them shortcuts. Then you should be able to navigate up and down the layers at the press of a key.

This is super helpful. Could you please send an updated link please?  It seems it has expired.

I haven't checked if they still work in recent versions of AA, though...
