Hi all,
I have a character head with open eyes and the same head with closed eyes. I'd like to put both these heads in a symbol so that when I put this symbol in the time line the head has a blink phase to it. However, when I load this nested head-blink symbol into keyframe caddy it shows the eyes-open and the eyes-closed symbols as separate images in the caddy rather than the nested symbol. Is there a script for including nested symbols in the caddy so that they don't break apart into their individual images?
Thanks.
Yeah you can't do that unless you nest the eyes and the head in one symbol which I wouldn't recommend. Keyframe Caddy shows whatever you select in a preview window but you can't select multiple symbols and expect it to be able to see both at the same time. the only thing that comes close is Lipper which allows you to have two tabs and then load two separate symbols in each. you can't see them at the same time but I'm not entire sure why you'd want to.

To answer your question regarding a script for including nested symbols in the caddy, not sure I can answer because I do not full understand your question.
But - I can help solve this as it would seem to be a workflow issue more than a lack of script issue.
What i would do is setup your "head" symbol (graphic) so that it contains the head (without features) on its bottom layer. Then on other layers ABOVE the head have your eyes (nose, mouth, ears, etc if any).
Now, in this nested timeline have your blinks on different keyframes.
Now when the instance of the "head" symbol is selected, you'll see each of these keyframes as individual thumbnails that can be selected.
Does this help?

Hi _keyframer. I understand your concept but it is not what I'm looking for. Keyframe caddy automatically breaks nested symbols into individualized thumbnails in the thumbnail viewer. I want the head and eyeblink to appear as a nested symbol in the thumbnail window. I do not want the caddy to break the symbol into its composite graphics as side-by side thumbnails.
This isn't make-or-break issue for me as the caddy is pretty great with even single images to choose from, but in some cases I'd prefer to choose from a list of nested symbols rather than individual graphics.
