Object drawing mode not working with Pen tool

Hello, 

I am new to adobe animate. I am trying the object drawing mode with the pen tool but for some reason it's not working. all the lines get merged together even though the object drawing is activated. 

This doesn't happen when I draw with a brush or lines or squares 

only when I am using the pen tool it doesn't work. 

Please help, I am using the latest version.

deactivate object drawing if you want each segment to be selectable on the timeline where you're using the pen tool.
