This is an impressive message!

esp. the Animate cannot open files in the "Adobe Animate Document" format.

On Windows I haven't noticed problems with opening FLA files in AA24 so far.

yeah, this is ridiculous. i can not open fla files i bought from others (probably be sold for serveral years).

But if i close animate and double click the fla file to start animate, it will open.

I have the same exact issue. I cannot open any files I made in Animate 23 with Animate 24, I get the same exact message.

I'm switching back to 23, I ran into a few issues right off the bat with 24.

Okay, after messing around with this with our tech guy this is what we discovered: Animate 23 files will not open in Animate 24 if you double click it in the finder window on Mac (OS Sonoma 14.2 for me). What does work is while in Animate, select File>Open, select the fla file you are trying to open, then open.

yes of course - open and then select a file. it's just very complicated and not what you would expect from a professional program. after animate crashed about seven times in a row today, i can suddenly open the files normally again with a double-click. there must be a big bug in the program... and it doesn't seem to be the only one. why does one always have to be exactly on a keyframe when changing something. this wasn't the case before and leads to many errors. can this be switched off somewhere?
