I copy pasted a layer I did in Illustrator into adobe animate and when I try to close the gap by using the brush tool the paint bucket tool won't recognize it and doesn't fill in the object. It only fills if I take the anchor points between the gap and connect them, which is what i don't want to do.
It will not work and I'm at my wit's end.

Hi Garrett,
Turn off object drawing mode. This will allow filling in your drawings with the brushes.
If you have created lines/shapes with the object drawing mode on. Select the line/shape and hit ctrl + b and it will change it to a brush stroke and you will be able to fill it.
For more information on "object drawing mode" please see this doc - Draw and create objects with Animate CC.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks,
Ankush

Did you break apart (Ctrl+B) the imported Illustrator twice to get the leg down to a shape? (You can check it in the Properties panel. When you select it, in the upper part of the Properties panel it'll say "Group" when you first bring it in from Illustrator, then "Drawing Object" after the first break apart, then "Shape" after the second.) Then make sure the line you draw to fill the closed shape is on the same layer (You can set the Paint Bucket to "Close Large Gaps," but some gaps might be too large to close). Then you should be able to use the Paint Bucket to fill it.
