PNG Image to Body Parts

Hello there,

So I've got an image attached and was wondering how to seperate the body parts so I can get it to wave. If anyone know how to that would be amazing!

The Warp Tool just makes it smudge and it's annoying to work with however with the bone tool it's easier but they need to be seperated.

See where I'm going??

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I'd chop it, using circular joints, convert each piece to a Graphic Symbol and animate.

Circular joints are explained here:

Hi Nick,

What do you mean by chopping it? By going into Photoshop and moving the different body parts into different layers?

Thanks

Hi again, mate!

I can see that you've already received good advice from @Not an alien and @Colin Holgate  how to deal with the immediate situation.

Here you can find a detailed step-by-step guidance how these things should be done properly:

Character Rigging for Flash Animation.

Good luck!

If you need it to be a png, I think you'll have to separate the parts in something like photoshop first and then import them in to Animate.  You could also trace the image in illustrator and clean it up a little, then paste it as vectors in Animate (or trace it in Animate itself, with lesser results)

So I've got my drawing into photoshop but how do I seperate each body part?

You can separate the parts inside Animate. Select the imported PNG, right-click, Break Apart. Use the Magic Wand to remove the background white parts. You can then select parts of the image to be different symbols, and then rotate those symbols. You will most likely have to fill in areas of the image with the body color.

I have attached a very quick test of what I mean.

Attachments seem not to work. If someone can tell me the solution to that, I will attach my file.

If you're replying to me, either Browse to choose the file, or drag and drop, only posts the text of my reply, and not the attachment.

something like this, like the other reply mentions, the important part is to cut out parts like forearm, upper arm etc but reconstruct them in a way so that there is a round end on the "hinges"  that way it will look better when rotating the parts.

Alternatively you could redraw it in a better pose for waving.
