I'm having trouble importing my sound into the library and isn't letting me do it. How do I fix that problem?

When you are doing timeline scrubbing, for doing lip sync for example, WAV is incredibly better than MP3. Also, if you're animating for video you want good quality sound. And, with having WAV you can then export with alternate MP3 compression for different applications. With MP3 you've committed to a given amount of compression.

If you're doing Canvas, then yes, may as well use MP3, especially as WAV can cause problems in Canvas FLAs.

import into audition and resave as a 16bit mp3 with a sample rate of 44.1khz (though other rates are supported).

Importing audio into Animate as MP3 is not a good idea, since it will recompress it anyway. So you want to import audio in a lossless format if at all possible.

The only issue I've personally encountered in Canvas with WAVs is a click at the end if it contains any metadata. I haven't checked the current version to see if this bug still exists.

I do seem to also recall that in Canvas mode publishing will re-encode MP3s even if you have it set to use imported MP3 data. Another reason to use WAV instead, so you don't get multi-generational compression artifacts.

What type of FLA are you using? In what way does it stop you from importing? If you're using HTML5 Canvas, make sure to use MP3, with the settings kglad mentioned. If it's an AS3 FLA, and you intend to do a lot of timeline scrubbing to get good lipsync, use WAV (still 16 bit 44.1 kHz).

I found out recently that the import dialog Options is defaulting to OGG-Vorbis, and that was stopping WAV or MP3 from being selectable to import.
