Save didn't work

I was working on an animation, then i tried to save it so i could reopen it. But when i reopen it all of a sudden all of my progress is gone and i can't find the autosave. And i KNOW i pressed the "save" button because if i didn't it would've told me if i wanted to exit without saving. What do I do?

if you didn't save over an edited fla, check your recent animate files.

I tried, but all it did was show me the old save for the animation instead of where i left off.

then learn to prevent this in the future by saving with increasing version number appended to the file name.
