SecurityError: Error #2148

New Here ,
Apr 20, 2009 Apr 20, 2009

Hi,

I'm having trouble playing an swf file in my website and i cant work out whats wrong. I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 along with Flash CS4 after i've added the swf (in the root folder i have the .fla file, the .swf file and the flvplayback skin) but i keep getting the 'SecurityError: Error #2148' error message.

Im confused because when i test the published html file from flash, it works great, same when i double click the .swf, works great but testing the page from Dreamweaver i get the error message. What does this mean and how can i solve this?

Thanks for your help.

you're have a security sandbox error.  upload to a server and test or change your security settings if you want to test locally ( http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html ).

Hi Kglad,

Thanks for the reply.  I changed my security settings and that made a bit of progress, can now preview the .swf file in Dreamweaver but when i test the webpage locally it still wont play.  I cant test the site on a server as i dont have one yet.

Thanks again.

When i publish the html from Flash i still get the same error message...

"SecurityError: Error #2148: SWF file http://localhost/mountainESL/contentPages/Lessons/free_pronoun/pronounB.swf cannot access local resource C:\htdocs\mountainESL\contentPages\Lessons\free_pronoun\PronounB.flv. Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.

I tried altering the security settings like you suggested in your previous post.  What else could be wrong?

are you just playing the video stream or are you trying to access the stream itself using the ByteArray class?

i thought the error was generated when you tried to publish from flash and had nothing to do with dreamweaver.

if you upload the publish html and swf to a server and test, do you see any problem?  if yes, post a link to your html's url.

if no, you have a dreamweaver issue.  what are you trying to do in dreamweaver?

Does the silence reflect ignorance from those experts of  Adobe or are those experts  befuddled? Methinks the latter my friends! Now that I've tried to disprove the view that geeks (even pseudo- Geeks like me) have some command over narrative and discourse -

SecurityError: Error #2148: ...

          at flash.net::NetStream/play()

          at fl.video::VideoPlayer/http://www.adobe.com/2007/flash/flvplayback/internal::_play()

          at fl.video::VideoPlayer/load()

Yes - I've tried the Global Security Manager ( not Obama).

Yes - I've loaded the js's (swo etc)

Yes- I've loaded the xml on cross domain policy (Thank you Curtis Morris - with such a name ever thought of being the next James Bond?)

Yes - my links are perfect even though I didn't attend a public school (and with such such an impeccable programmer as Dreamweaver is...)

Yes - my code is spot on (only because a pseudo like me has to use  Dreamwever to insert the .swf into my .html)

Yes - I've talked with my web hostess and she says she's had loads of .swf files more than I've had hot dinners so don't blame me darling!

Anyone out there - I can see why programmers use "Hello World".

Same problem >>

SecurityError: Error #2148: SWF file %1 cannot access local resource %2. Only local-with-filesystem

and trusted local SWF files

I am using C++ server and Adobe client is connecting with the same.

At first policy request and cross domain policy messages were exchanged and connection was established.

I have interchange events/requests through the sockets from/to adobe swf to/from c++ server.

But when I clicked a particular swf, the error occurs

Also I have made all swf's settings as Local playback security as " Access network only"

So this is obviously a security issue (used to be a little bit more obvious how to resolve it) that the cause is because you're running it locally. The flash player will not allow accessing local files unless you permit it to do so. That being said...

  • When you load the SWF locally and see the error appear, close the error display (so you're looking at your blank SWF right now)
  • Right click in the swf and select "Global Settings"

(this is with FP 10.3.183.7 - I believe it's 'settings' in previous players, previous players this would take you to your local settings manager that looked like it was a webpage)

  • A dialog panel should show up named : Flash Player Settings Manager

  • Click on the 'Advanced' tab:

  • Near the bottom you should see 'Developer Tools' :"Specify trusted locations for developer testing"
    • Click on the "Trusted Location Settings" button

  • You should see the 'Trusted Location Settings' window.
    • Click the 'Add' button

  • Proceed to add the file or folder (I usually add the folder of the project, so if I'm loading other resources in the project, it would accept that too)

  • Hit Close, close the settings manager and...

  • Refresh the page. The new security settings should allow you to access local files.

Here's the tech note for more reference:

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlayer/LSM/WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7ff0.html#WS6aa5ec...

Hope it helps anyone else out there.
