simple AS 2 for named movie

Can someone please tell me what the action script 2 would be for a named movie instance to play 3 times only.
Should I have NO stop inside the movie timeline to allow this to happen?

if(numPlayed == undefined){
numPlayed=1;
} else {
numPlayed++;
}
if(numPlayed==3){
stop();
}
