Disappearing Text

I am trying to add static text into my animation but whenever I use the test feature the text does not show up. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Please help.

are you trying to animate your text?  are you simply adding text to a timeline layer that doesn't change for the length of your main timeline?

I am using non-moving text on a still background. The text is red, while the background is orange. the writing is on a layer above the background.

do you see the text while creating it?

And when I'm working on other frames

put your text in its own layer.  make sure that layer contains nothing else other than the text.  make sure there are no tweens of that layer.  test.

if you still see that problem, change the font to a system font.  test.

if you still see the problem upload your fla to a file server and post a link.

When you are putting the text in is it the color of the background? Like if your background is white and you are putting white text on a white background.
