flash system environment variables

Thank you for your answer. Can you tell me if I could declare a variable within the environment variables and be able to pick that unique variable up within flash?

Im developing an application that needs to read a varaible declared within the OS Environment Variables. What you have suggested returns a number of system variables, which is very useful, but I need to declare one myself within OS Environment and then be able to pull that into Flash. Any ideas?
