Problem with Flash CS6

I have been having this problem for a while. I use Illustrator cs6 in conjuction with Flash Cs6 to build characters. Sometimes when I port my character design from illustrator to flash, the transparent objects (basically the highlights and shadows I make on things) will disappear and be replaced with tiny white boxes after closing and reopening flash. I cannot figure out what the issue is and why it only happens sometimes. Whenever this happens, I have to redo everything and it is driving me crazy. Does anyone know what this is and how I can fix it?

Hi mate,

I have little experience bringing art from Illustrator to Flash, but a lot of experience with Flash CS6.

It is very difficult to tell what the reason for this may be.

I've seen symbol corruption, but never like in your case.

I can see however your Library and it is a mess. And it usually is a mess when you bring stuff in from Illustrator.

It usually is quite messy inside the symbols also.

Check the content of those symbols.

When you import/paste from Illustrator go to your Modify... menu and choose Document...

In the dialog box just press OK. This will force Flash to re-read and write properly all the changes.

You probably don't want to hear this, but still... why don't you just do your character work in Flash?

It will save you so much pain and frustration.

I've worked on many TV shows and we'd always try to do all our character builds in Flash.

I have written quite a lot over the years about character rigging.

Here are a couple of articles which may be useful:

Also if you don't have Flanimate Power Tools, just grab a copy.

Best regards!
