Doctype xhtml 1 transitional?

Hi

Just noticed after a week of work that BC uses doctype xhtml 1 transitional. why? how can I change to HTML5?

My mistake. Since I didn't declare a doctype BC just added it's own xhtml 1 doctype.

I build HTML5 sites in BC all the time.
If you use a template it is likely to be XHTML. If you edit things in the BC edit in the admin (you should not) to edit html it will conform to valid XHTML.

So if you do not use templates and use a proper editor like DW, Coda 2 etc you can and your fine.

Thanks Liam,

I usually don't use BC templates but this time I did want to get all the modules set so it was useful to use a template. I am using my own templates now so why does it still show doctype xhtml? my website looks really odd and obsolete to my client and visitors.

If you got your templates right then you can have your right doctype.

I know how html doctype looks like but it's grayed out in BC and I can't change that. or can I?

I do not know what you mean by greyed out. If you create a html5 based template file, save and upload to BC and then use it, it wont have that at the top. Not sure what you doing or leaving in to have that xhtml element in there. BC does not generate it.
