Dreamweaver not updating Template file

Hi All, I must be doing something wrong. I am making templates, doing so in DW. It is updating the html file but when I push the Template file it doesn't take it on the BC side. I have to go to BC and paste in the content of the Template file into the BC editor for it to work. I am trying to add includes and it will not update the Template file on the server. It doesn't matter if I am working on the files in the remote or local folders. I get the DW warning that I am saving a file without an editable region, which isn't true. Is there a preference I should be setting in DW? It is a real pain to be going back and forth so much and it gets harder when trying to add includes. Thanks !

Templates correctly placed in the Template folder will not show up in the pages view.

If you see that then there is something wrong.

Most common error with templates is not including {tag_pagecontent} <-- This is required.

Everything is in the proper place, I believe, in the tree. Look at pic please to see what you think. The problem is not that I can't get it to work, I can. It works, but I have to use the Editor in the browser on BC and Paste the code there. It will not allow me to upload to that file from FTP.  The file is created in BC then put to my remote folder to edit. All my other files get/put fine, just not the template file. It will not put. I always double check each file as I go so if it doesn't work I will know what the issue is.

Code images is just of a head file which does not really mean anything

- Template. I do not use DW so forget how it does its conversions but I still know it needs to be in the Templates folder and not any other
I can only state the common things with this:

- You have a folder for templates showing up so that always says BC is seeing pages in there that it does not consider template files.

- If you see DWT files in the online folder the conversion and site setup in DW is not correct

- If you have .html files in Template folder without {tag_pagecontent} things wont update, work etc.

- With FTP always check your new files actually are uploading

You can delete the templates online, ensure they are not being seen and re-upload as a check but you need to check the above stuff.

If you see DWT files in the online folder the conversion and site setup in DW is not correct -- I do have the dwt extension on the Template file on the remote server. I create the template files in BC and then bring them into DW to edit. I then pull out the part for the html file and put the rest in the Template file. I re-upload to server.  Is this the wrong tactic? What is the proper way? Thank you.

Probably why its gone funky.

Either you use the BC plugin and DWT process as they outline OR you do not use DWT (No need to use DW templates in BC anyway) and just use the html content and use includes.

I NEVER make templates in BC.

I ALWAYS make them locally and ensure they have the tag in them and upload them. I never touch the admin interface for them.. Never need too.

Only have partial info from you so I would suggest hit support up with a ticket or tripple check everything, but pretty sure it will be around one of the things I indicated.

Thanks for the help, i do appreciate it. The one thing I will say is that the extension comes from DW obviously and it automatically puts in editable region comments which I remove and are not needed. Just is. It also puts a editable region tag and comment in the head section when I check the box in BC not to. So something is amiss. I am thinking it has to do with what that and I am missing something through that process. Thanks again and have a great day!

Well, I finally decided to use a different editor and it works fine. It shows me that when DW drags in the files from BC it is adding the extension and the editable regions all on its own. I went so far as to take all the files into a different editor and change all the extensions back to HTML. Then delete project on BC, start a new site, upload to BC from the diff editor, delete the version on my computer and import all the files into DW. Guess what it grabbed all those files and added the DWT extension and added all the editable regions. Funny thing is that when I view those files in the BC editor I don't see all that. SO, I guess it really doesn't matter?? I just decided to use an editor without all the fluff and go about it that way I really don't need DW for this part.
