For a complete overview of camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe provides backward compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for specific cameras are not available

I cannot open RAW files from new SONY A7M4 in PS and Lightroom, can you add this camera to supported devices?

Please see for yourself which version of Camera Raw supports a camera and which version of Photoshop is compatible with that ACR version:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

If you prefer processing RAW images with ACR instead of the camera maker’s proprietary software you might want to petition them to allow shooting DNG so that Adobe does not have to play catch-up with each new camera model’s RAW format.

The solution is easy but those that can solve the problem will not: STOP making proprietary raws!

No issues with camera JPEGs. Not proprietary.

Simple.

Very short vision to solving the issue...

My answer is work hand in hand with manufacturers, that's what Adobe should do.

And don't tell me it's not possible... once again that's irrelevant...

Be proactive, if a new model is announced, plan your update accordingly.

Adobe should be seemlessly updated with cameras, it's simply common sense.

Not even trying (especially when it's recurrent) means, they don't care... and so don't care of the inconvenience for their clients...

They are using a Beta version of Lightroom. Here's proof:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_-vzx7k-Ls&t=134s

Actually really annoys me that a video can come out on November 17th and a YouTuber has been given software to edit his raws. Beta version or not, it's not like Adobe were fully waiting for release to start on the raw files, they're just not in a rush.

No in this video at 13:00 he says he can't see the photo as lightroom is not update at the moment...

That's really piss me off... Been weeks now.

Adobe is supposed to work for pros? Do everything to let them work then, you are currently delaying my work.

Is it a pro position to you??? That is not annoying, it is unacceptable for pros, you guys have to review your copy, your workflow and management, once again unacceptable, not pro-active, not serious, not pro.

What saves you is your dominance on the market... Otherwise your careless position toward your clients would harm you...

Enough of saying it's always like that.

Enough of saying you can't do anything about it.

Is it with that kind of mindset Adobe became an industry leader? By saying "Oh we can't... deal with it... bye"

If you guys know there is a pain, solve it, that's how you please clients and win the market.

I can't believe your statuquo...

Please show us where Adobe or anyone else stated: "Oh we can't... deal with it... bye".

Maybe you should be a tiny bit more patient.... Not only can they deal with it, they will.

Well you say, it's always like that when a new camera is out...

If it is always like that, it's mean to me that its not the first time clients are complaining about the situation right? So the situation is known. So if it's known and the situation keep coming up, to me it means "We can't".

And if you tell me to be patient (when others already update their software), to me it means "Deal with it".

Finally the "Bye" is the lack of communication about the subject.

I don't know if you guys noticed but it's 10 pages of complains here on the same subject.

If it is the same each time, I do think Adobe should take care of it once for good and start being proactive on the issue.

"May be I should be a tiny more patient"? Is it the answer? I am making money with my pictures, and that's answer Adobe answer "Wait"?

Plus BTW what do you mean by "tiny" it been weeks now...

So yes sorry if it doesn't please you, but right now what I hear from Adobe is "Oh we can't... Deal with it... Bye"

Hallo zusammen,

I recently bought a Sony a 7 IV (ILCE 7M4), but unfortunately I can not open the raw files (arw) in Lightroom. When is this issue going to be solved, or when will the new update come?

Though Adobe almost never announces release schedules, historically support for a new camera from a leading manufacturer is usually included in the release following the camera's announcement but sometimes in the release after that. The Sony A7 IV was announced 10/21/21, five days before the release of LR 11.0.  LR releases roughly every 8 weeks, so we might expect to see LR 11.1 sometime in December.  (This is just an educated guess based on past releases over many years.)

Stop complaining and pay your monthly fee to be able to use the lastest update of your Lightroom or Photoshop.

You hear what you want in latest update... You know when you pay, not when you'll be able to use your gear...

Adobe is a tiny company you know, the few developpers in the team need time to figure out how manage RAW files... (its not something they do much often...).  And Sony is bad! They don't give the files! Booooooooh!!!!

Honestly head quarters in both companies should work a tiny bit together in order to avoid thoses pages and pages of complaints...

I do try to figure out why a world top camera manufacturer would not be agree to have their latest gear working seemlessly with the most used photo editing softwear in the world the day their product is out... And I don't understand... Unless they don't really care about their clients...

You are paying anyways, it seems to be enough. Complaints, droping the hype, whatever the situation is, they are too big to fail and they know it. They don't even bother to answer you... That's how much they care about you...

Oh and by the way! It's YOUR fault!

You should have checked out if your software is compatible with your camera before you purchased it! Haaaaaa...

Ok so I pay for a constant updated softwear every months, but I should check if it is updated before I buy gear... Right... Thanks guys that's all make sense...

I do complain to Sony too BTW, they are exactly like Adobe, they don't seem to care much...

Capture One already supports the Sony A7IV, just saying.

I still think Adobe should prioritize things like this, especially for such big releases like the Sony A7IV.

Released only today. Sometimes they can be a week or two ahead, sometimes LR's schedule fits in better with the camera makers' release dates.

Why is everyone defending Adobe on this? This is the same leadership that decided that two different versions of Lightroom was a good idea. They made them very similar but were careful to make sure neither is perfect.

Imagine how much faster they could implement these updates if they weren't also working on two applications that do the same job. I half expect them to launch Lightroom Classic Remastered soon.

Not defending - are some attacking? It's more a case of just explaining the timescale and how the responsibility is not Adobe's alone.

It's probaby good that software engineers aren't generally responsible for product naming shenanigans!

John, if you provide facts about this decades-old continuing issue, to people who just now realize it's a problem, to them you are defending one side.

If you provide facts about the development of software to people unlike you and me, who have actually produced software, you are defending one side.

We both know when they will get the update and we both know this group will go away until the next camera ships when yet another proprietary raw ships with it and we slog through this again sadly.

Some simply can not accept the decade of facts nor history presented. But we tried, we tried.

What's the old saying about shooting the messengers? 😢
