Hi
Hope someone can shed some light on this issue for me.
I have Captivate 5 already installed on my PC (Installed by CD), I recently purchased and downloaded the upgrade to Captivate 5.5 from the Adobe site.
Everything installed fine (a couple of conflicts with media encoder 5 & something else from version 5) and it accepted the activation code supplied with the download. Captivate 5.5 was working fine. I launched it the next day and it tells me that activation is required. Tried to do this online, but Adobe keeps saying I'm not connecting to the internet, but I am. When I select the option. "Can't connect online" I type in the activate code and it says it's not valid for this product. I'm now getting slightly confused and frustrated.I've tried calling and chatting with online help but I feel I'm not getting anywhere fast.
I launched Captivate again the following day and wasn't asked for activation. I thought everything was sorted, until I launched it today and was asked to activate again.
Could it have anything to do with Captivate 5 still being on my machine? I asked online help previously if this was an issue and was ignored.
I'm using Windows XP
Thanks in advance

I think you should pursue this issue with Adobe Support. It sounds like for some reason your product activation isn't sticking. Is this your own personal PC, or a PC owned by the corporation you work for?

Any chance that you are on a corporate network using proxy servers or routing tables? If so then that is the likely cause. I have the same issue with my work pc everytime I need to activate a piece of Adobe software, so I usually bring my computer home (a big desktop workstation) and connect it to my network at home. Then once it's activated I bring it back to work again.

It is a work PC, but we're not using any proxy servers or routing tables.
Just confused by the fact that it did intial activate then the next time it was launched, it said it wasn't activated.

Hi Aditya. I have the same problem.. I went to open my Captivate 5.5 and I got the Activation menu and no internet connection.. Well I bought the program over a year ago (I think) I have activated it and used it!!! plenty. My harddrive was replaced ..twice.. but I'm sure it worked on my new SSD)... I did download the new Adobe Application Manager and I'm wondering whether or not that has something to do with it.. I only have Captivate on my laptop (and the spare hard drive)... I have the software CD and need help quickly, since we use this for work!!!! (duh!! ) hahah
Thanks in advance

Having the same issue here too. Corporate environment, have an active internet connection, but Captivate 6 activation screen telling me I don't. Unable to get my subscription started. I have checked with IT and there is no activity on the proxy or any firewall resrtictions that are stopping it. Have run all the adobe tests and they have passed. Any ideas as my trial is about to run out, I have paid for a subscription but can't get the two to talk. Very frustrating!

Before you purchased Cp 6 subscription, did you already using Cp 6 in your machine, if yes, did you uninstall and reinstall the Captivate 6 with the Subscription option of Captivate 6?
Please let me know so I can suggest few steps.

Hi Priyank,
I have now unistalled and reinstalled, selecting the Subscription option and it now works. Might be an idea to let people know this requirement more broadly.
Thanks.

I am in IT field support for an enterprise. We have a user with a laptop who has Adobe Captivate 5.5 installed. It was installed using a SMS package with the enterprise license built in the package. Every month or so she starts getting the "Activation Required" screen and can no longer use Captivate. We have to un-install then re-install Captivate 5.5. It's possible she may have once had Captivate 5 installed. We have done this about 6 times so far and now I'm looking at completely replacing the laptop with one that's freshly loaded. It's possible she may have once had Captivate 5 installed. We have a proxy and are not able to activate software online.
Is there any solution to this other than replacing the laptop completely? The replacement would take hours.
Thank you

Your Captivate package needs to be built using AAMEE and the enterprise key. This will make a custom MSI to be used in SMS. If AAMEE is used you don't have to worry about activation and the Deactivate feature will even be greyed out. You can even deactivate some of the other features like Updates. Just remember to use the ProductCode GUID from the created MSI and not the one for the install that shows under Add/Remove programs.
