Hi!
A couple of people on our team are working on developing an elearning module, so we need to share the file with each other (e.g., One person adds content then sends it to another person to add a different section).
However, when we share the file, the recipient can't open it.
A coworker sent me a file via google drive, I downloaded it, and when I tried to open it, I got this message:
Adobe Captivate could not open "(filename)". Ensure that:
-The file is not open already.
-The file is not damaged. For example, if the file was an email attachment, ensure that you have decoded the file correctly.
-The hard disk has sufficient available space.
-The system has sufficient resources. To optimize the resources, close all the other open applications.
We both have Adobe Captivate 9. He also tried putting the file on a shared drive. When I downloaded it and then tried to open it, I received the same error.
Is there anything we're doing wrong? We both have to work on this file, and I didn't anticipate having difficulty working on a project file with another developer.
Thanks!
That is an allround warning that can be due to several causes.
Do the developers use exactly the same version (full version number is important). Did the first developer close the file before sending it?

Oh, dang - just realized my coworker has Captivate 2017, and I have Captivate 9. So fun! Haha.
Thank you!

So are you telling me that there is no solution to this issue, if I have several of my developers on 2017 and I am on Captivate 9? I am the one responsible for publishing to our LMS, I need a work around for this!

Indeed. You can open CP9 files with CP2017 and upgrade them, but you cannot open CP2017 files on CP9. I'm sorry. There is no workaround AFAIK, even opening the library as external library didn't work.

UGH! So once again Adobe is forcing us to spend more money. Thanks for your help!

I don't know, you could have remained using both CP9 versions. This is not a new situation, that kind of compatability never existed with Captivate, could be due to other reasons as well, not only to 'greed'.
