Advice before creating a database of games.

Hello,

Captivate 9.

I'm toying with the idea of making a sort of ‘flash card’ database, but have never tried this and would welcome any suggestions, hints, tips or warnings.

The general idea is to have a database of games that can be played by groups of people.

Each game would be on a single slide and have ‘attributes’ such as:

Name : Hide-and-seek

Minimum people needed: 2

Maximum people : 100

Minimum age : 3

Indoor : Yes

The user would be able to select attributes from a menu and then scroll through slides showing games that match.

I would welcome any thoughts about if and how this can be done.

Thank you.

Peter

This could be done with advanced actions checking the attributed and if they do not match, go to the next slide.

Captivate does not seem like the tool to use for this though. You need something that would be much more dynamic to then build a menu of games that match the criteria.

I would map all of your logic on paper before even getting started building anything. You will have a ton of conditions for each, and you would need to weight the importance of whether 5 of 6 of the attributes are matched, What if 3 of 6, or would you only show results if all attributes are matched?

TLC,

You have confirmed what I thought would be the case... Captivate is not the right tool for this as it would take a shed load of work to get it up a running.

Thank you.

Peter.
